Her eyes darted to the chair. His uniform was gone. She smiled to herself. Maybe Harvey Klinger knew more than she gave him credit for. Maybe he had already pulled out. If he had, it would rank as one of the easiest nights she had put in since and maybe including the time she spent with Charlie. It was certainly one of the most profitable. |

She swung her long pale white legs over the edge of the bed and stood up, momentarily catching a reassuring glimpse of herself in the full-length mirror. Cappy was pleased with what she saw. She went to the closet, pulled out the maroon velvet floor-length robe that Charlie had given her the previous Christmas and headed for the kitchen. |
